10 Top Healing Tips for a Great and Happy Holiday Season

Make this holiday season perfect for you!

  1. Make a choice this holiday season not to give too much, be too much, do too much. Instead be more relaxed and present in each moment.
  2. Give yourself the gift that “you really want” this holiday season; at the very least, “want something”.
  3. Keep it simple, give love; it does not cost money and can be expressed easily, when you “think” what to give, “think” from your heart.
  4. Allow yourself to break with tradition if that is what you want to do; allow yourself to let go and bring change.
  5. Update, revise, and accept what the holiday season “means” to you these days, then allow others to do the same.
  6. Do something silly, childish, and fun… just because.
  7. Spend some time relaxing and dreaming magical thoughts.
  8. Enjoy and explore other people, but accept that not everyone “has to get along” and you don’t have to be responsible.
  9. Wrap up, and enjoy the season. Get outside, whatever the weather is like where you are.
  10. Replace any feelings of dread, sadness, and stress with positive thoughts and affirmations.

Depression: what it is and what it isn’t…

First, what depression ISN’T…

  • Depression is not a sign that you are problematic or crazy. Quite the opposite. It means that you are sensitive, probably more sensitive than the norm and that for this reason you are more intensely affected by whichever circumstances and events are around you and also those that have been around you in our life up till now… Sensitive people are ahead of their time and are the ones to bring change, first to themselves, then to their environment and humanity. They feel problems ( and as long as they don’t stay stuck, find their solutions…. ) before others do…
  • Depression is not a weakness or punishment and it does not mean that you are a bad person or have done something wrong. It simply means that you need to learn and put into practise new and better for you things and bring new, more positive perspectives…
  • Depression is not forever. It is a phase that many many people go through at some point in their lives and the faster you deal with it, the faster it will pass. The help and support of an expert, especially someone who has been through depression but has truly come out the other end, can be the best possible thing at this time.
  • Depression does not have an age limit. Someone can be depressed at 20, someone else at 40 ( the well known “mid life crisis” ), someone else at 70 and so on… This is another good reason not to compare yourself to others!  
  • Depression is not the same for everyone. We are all different and despite the fact that there will always be some commonalities, the symptoms and emotions of each person, as their lives, are unique… It is recommended that whichever therapy you choose at this time be one-to-one and with an experienced therapist that is able to see beyond stereotypes… Now is definitely the time – it is a necessity and not a luxury when you are depressed – to give yourself the whole hearted care and attention that you need!
  • Depression cannot be healed with medication. Of course there is no medication or substance that can heal the worries, issues, existential and philosophical dilemmas, traumas and wounds that we as people all have. Medication can be there as a support if needed and sometimes can be necessary, perhaps fewer times than you may think though. Medication ideally is only taken temporarily while at the same time doing the necessary work with yourself.
  • Depression is not all or nothing, nor black or white, there are all the shades of gray in between… We may all have some relative degree of depression at times… If you pay attention to and notice the small signs and you know how ( something which of course is difficult to know unless you have already been through it! ) you can avoid the deeper forms of depression. If you have not avoided them however and you find yourself already there, know that for sure it is not too late and that you can get out of it, it will just take a little more time than it would for a lighter form.
  • Lastly, depression is not “all in your mind” and you can’t “just get over it”! To heal depression, really, ideally, forever and with the best possible results, you  need to deal with it where it exists, which is on all levels: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. So what IS depression?

  • Depression, if you do the work required of you, can mean the start of a new, better than ever life! It can be the very thing needed so that you can learn and remember who you are, what you want, what you don’t want, what you need, what you don’t need and for you to start to make the changes needed based on these things. It can even lead you to the meaning of life, leading you to a bigger, more expanded and creative, truly joyful and happy life!
  • Depression can be the landmark of maturity in a person. If you divide your life into “before” and “after” and if you get the help and healing you need, the “after” will always be clearly and extremely better and all the richer for all that you learnt to get there…
  • Depression is a phase that you get to because you blame, judge, reject and do not love yourself. To get over or through depression you actually need to learn how to love yourself from the beginning again and be the best friend, parent, lover and teacher to yourself that you can be! It is time to learn how!
  • Depression is always about a lack of expression and inner flow. Depression means that you are “overwhelmed”, “full up”, “up to here”, that you are saturated and full of old emotions, anger, sadness, pain, fear, as well as thoughts and things that you have an immediate need to express, let go of and clear and heal within yourself. When you are full up of old things there is no room for anything new!
  • Depression is a sign from yourself to yourself that it is time to learn, recognise, understand, accept, change and heal some important things in yourself and in your life.
  • As said, depression is something that “hits” the most creative, sensitive, artistic, open and pioneering people! So you are in good company! Which is not to say of course that being these things means that you must be or have to be depressed or keep company with depression! You can and must, to be happy, be all of these things without depression and you can naturally do that with joy and with ease once you know how.
  • Depression can be accompanied by feelings of fear, panic, pain, sadness, indifference, anger, numbness, boredom and by behaviors such as substance abuse – drugs, alcohol, food – or even self abuse. Naturally, problems are created in relationships, at work, with sexuality and much more…
  • Depression is tailor made for you… It is something that you have gotten yourself into and therefore something you yourself can and have to get out of… In depression, as with everything else, you never have any more to deal with than you are able to. If you don’t know or cannot see or feel this and if you feel you can’t do this alone then you simply need to reach out for help.
  • Depression can be just the thing you need to set your priorities in order and to clear out anything that you no longer need on all levels. Depression is a great clearer of all that is old or useless, giving you the opportunity, within this new simplicity and this new space, to understand and love yourself  more and to open up towards ever deepening love and life and ever deepening real happiness…

This interview of Petrene Soames was conducted by me, her student, Alternative and Holistic Therapist Xenia Aidonopoulou and published in “Yoga World” magazine, Athens, Greece, March 2010!

Petrene Soames is a World Class Psychic, Healer, Therapist, radio and TV talk show guest, Paranormal and ESP expert and is also the Author of “The Essence of Self Healing: How to Bring Health and Happiness into your Life” ( also published in Greek and Chinese ), “50 ways to fix your life: The Workbook” and “The Process” and is also the creator of the “Positive Thought Cards”. Petrene was born in England and now lives and works in the Woodlands, Texas USA.

Hello Petrene, your book “The Essence of Self-Healing” has been published and is now available in the Greek language and you will be in Athens to promote it in early March 2010. Would you please tell me a bit about what Self-Healing is and how you perceive it?

I perceive Self Healing as a person healing themselves, be it on the physical, emotional and/or mental levels, but Self Healing is also very much about healing the past, the present and the future and all the different selves that we are. By this I mean ourselves when we were six or twenty or whatever age our emotional blocks were created in. The is very important because up until we pinpoint and heal these selves and times we will never really be happy or successful within ourselves no matter what we achieve.

How else is “The Essence of Self-Healing: How to bring Health and Happiness into your Life” and your approach different to the other books and approaches on Self-Healing that are out there?

This approach of Self-Healing and this book are different to what is already available in that it is made very very simple. The reader can use the Self Healing experience and have it work for them and then go on to build their own self love, self confidence and self awareness… All of which is needed before one can truly start to create reality, be in charge and live the life that they are indeed here to live. The things that I teach, share and do are always a lot faster and more effective than what is normally expected and offered and above everything else, I have taken Self-Healing to the source, its very Essence and made it understandable and possible for everyone, for people who have tried other methods and failed or for people who have had no previous experience at all…

What in your opinion is illness and why do we get sick or unwell?

Illness is different things for different people but to describe it simply, it can be caused by an emotional action or a reaction, by a long term unfulfilled need, by a denial and suppression of the self, by a past time wound and by a desire to force ourselves to take the time and action needed to create positive change and realization within ourselves and our lives. So actually illness is a hard way of doing things and yet at this point in time it is a way that many many people use.

Can anyone and everyone use Self-Healing or do they have to be experienced in spiritual and/or healing practices?

Anyone can use Self-Healing they don’t need to be spiritual or to believe, belief follows of course after change and results, but people do need to follow the simple instructions and as I have written them.

Can Self-Healing cure serious diseases such as cancer, diabetes, arthritis etc?

Yes Self-Healing can most definitely cure serious illness such as cancer, diabetes, arthritis, lupus etc.

Can we use Self-Healing in order to stay in good health, even if we are not facing any illness or disease? What kinds of things can we expect as we start to include Self-Healing in our lives?

We can use Self-Healing to stay in good shape and great balance, to help us to heal the self and selves, to love and express ourselves and to bring positive change. All of this without needing to use being ill as a way to move forward. As we start to use Self-Healing we will experience more calm, joy, understanding, realization, acceptance, our energy will be greater, and we will have greater overall feelings of well-being.

How much time per day do we have to spend doing Self-Healing exercises? How much time would that be if we are already ill and how much time if we are well but just want to keep ourselves in the best possible shape or keep ourselves from getting ill in the first place?

To keep ourselves in shape and on track, even as little as ten minutes a day will make a big difference… To develop our awareness and to bring change into our lives maybe twenty minutes or so and to start working with real illness, any time that we use will start to bring benefits but as far as the amount of time needed exactly, of course this depends very much on what exactly we are facing or dealing with.

In your book you have many simple examples of self-healing exercises, could you give me an example of a simple self-healing exercise and how it works/what it does? What do you feel would be most useful for the readers right now at the beginning of this fabulous new year, 2010?

Where to start in 2010… I would suggest that your readers begin by each and every using the affirmation “I love myself completely without condition”. Say these words firmly and often out loud or just in your mind each and every day. This is the beginning of everything that is amazing and the beginning of healing. Keep working with these words until they feel true and normal and good. You have everything in the book that you need to develop this self love, self acceptance, self understanding and Self-Healing.

Could you give us an example of someone you have worked with recently who was facing serious problems and illness and who has healed themselves using the techniques and philosophy of Self-Healing?

One of my most recent cases where a person successfully worked with Self-Healing and cured themselves was a man in his early 60s who had chronic sinus problems to the point where he could not breathe at night without a machine. During the day his eyes and nose were constantly running and swollen. He underwent surgery which did not help and after about four months of using Self-Healing he is cured and not facing this problem anymore. This probably took about four months altogether and up until he came to see and met me he knew nothing about Self-Healing and was actually quite a skeptic… But he gave it a try after his wife used it to successfully cure her own Hepatitis.

That’s excellent! It is often the case that we are inspired by the people around us and I often hear of wives of husbands influencing each other in these positive ways… In the book you talk about the unique and powerful healing methods of Rebirthing, Regression, Progression and Digression ( all without using hypnosis… ) which you have developed… What are these therapies and why do we still need them if Self-Healing works? I guess the question is can we do everything ourselves or do we sometimes need outside help?

The Rebirthing, Regression, Progression and Digression sessions that I talk about in the book are indeed powerful tools that can and may be needed in a persons Healing journey. Yes, sometimes we do need help, not because it’s not possible to fix things on our own, but because few of us have developed our own awareness yet to the point where these useful and powerful tools would not be to our advantage and benefit to use.

You are a psychic as well as being a healer who has developed these many unique and powerful healing techniques. Can you tell us a bit about how you see this coming year being for Greece and the people who are living here who are trying to create a harmonious and spiritual reality for themselves? How do you see Greece at this time?

I do see Greece in this year becoming even more important in Europe. Indeed, many people will look to Greece this year to see how she is handling and creating change on many different levels, from politics to economics and lifestyles. I will speak in more detail about this when I am there and through the media.

Thanks Petrene, a final question for those who are thinking of coming to see you when you are here: “why should people come to see you in one of your appearances while you are here in Greece?”

Because I will give them something that they did not have before, an answer that they have been searching for and the advice that they really need to follow so that they can change everything. It is true that I cannot make them take the advice but it will be 100% valuable and correct and I will certainly inspire them too try.

The Teachers of Today save you time

My thoughts on moving on, the difference between the new teachers and the old teachers, what it means to take real steps and what’s new… By my amazing teacher, Petrene Soames, 2010.

The healing methods, therapies and techniques which I developed and which we could say come under the umbrella of “Self Healing and Awareness” are totally unique and complete.

Of course the whole subject we are talking about is both incredibly simple and also incredibly complex, but this is what a master does, he or she takes it all and finds simple ways to make the complex understandable and work for everyone.

Of course we should look at the older healing systems and religion in general, be it Buddhism, Christian Orthodoxy or Christianity of any other kind, Hinduism etc… We need to look at different belief systems and ways to open ourselves, different ways to heal our past and our wounds, because these different ways remind us of and reconnect us with the amazing being that we truly already are. Everything has something in it. But beware of anything that tells you that you must study for many many years or that you should follow a strict regime, anything that tells you to beware of “evil” or “bad” things, anything that makes you feel that the world is a scary, unsafe place or that you are bad because anything that tells you these kinds of things is totally missing the point.

Also be aware that any system that tells you to forgive others because that makes you a good person yet doesn’t help you build your awareness of what you are actually dealing with, or any system that doesn’t work with you until you can truly see the perfection in how you were supposedly wronged and that actually there is nothing to forgive, is also missing the point.

Old masters, old saints and old deities have brought us to this point in time, they can give us clues to go forward but they cannot take us forward for they already took a lifetime or more to get to where they got and they have already taken us there anyway. The new masters are the ones who will help us to find the amazing in who and what we already are, for we are already all of everything that came before us and all that is to come after us and we need to realize and celebrate the uniqueness of ourselves. Anything less than this may seem and feel at times to be helpful, even life changing and all consuming, but in reality it is missing the point…

As far as spiritual experiences are concerned, I don’t think there is an ultimate experience or a highest level or even a lowest level or a best state of being. There are so many different experiences and levels and realities and ways to experience life, reality and the beyond. We give names to these places and points in time and space and many so called teachers urge us to keep striving to reach them but they make it seem like it is only after much time or much work or sacrifice that can we hope to achieve these experiences or this enlightenment. Yet these are simply old ways of thinking! None of this means that this is so, rather there are many different ways of doing things and in this time, each and every one of us is quite capable of experiencing all of this and more much more…
